About

How Know Your Cryptos came to life

The idea for Know Your Cryptos first came to me in 2022. At the time, I was studying at the University of Nicosia for an MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency, so the project remained in its early stages while I focused on my studies.

Still, the concept stayed with me: could learning about the large and sometimes confusing crypto ecosystem be made more visual, interactive, and fun?

Years later, I returned to the idea and began experimenting with a Python and Streamlit quiz application. The small prototype gradually grew to include more crypto projects, more game modes, and more ways to learn while playing. Eventually, I decided to rebuild it as a full mobile application.

Know Your Cryptos brings together several long-running interests: education, technology, computer science, programming, cybersecurity, and blockchain and cryptocurrency.

I have worked in education for more than two decades while continuing to study and work with technology. My graduate studies include Curriculum and Instruction as well as the MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency.

KYC is independently designed and developed, and it continues to evolve as both a game and a learning project.

The path so far

  1. 1

    2022: The idea

The first concept for Know Your Cryptos takes shape while I am studying Blockchain and Digital Currency at the University of Nicosia.

  2. 2

    Early planning

The project begins to take shape, but graduate studies keep it in its early stages for a while.

  3. 3

    The prototype

I return to the concept and build an early version using Python and Streamlit to explore how crypto learning could work through game-based challenges.

  4. 4

    Growing the game

The crypto database expands, additional categories and game modes are added, and KYC begins to grow beyond the original prototype.

  5. 5

    Mobile development

I rebuild the project as a dedicated mobile app and begin expanding it into a more complete learning and game experience.

  6. 6

    Toward release

Development, testing, artwork, game content, and refinement continue as KYC moves toward a public release.
